Breaking News: Gary Gray

Cockfather Illustrated has confirmed that USC commitment and 5 star CB preospect Gary Gray is making an unoffical visit to Notre Dame this weekend. Gray has been upset in recent weeks with USC DB coach Ron Cooper's lack of interest in communicating with the Richland Northeast High School product.

I will update this report when more information becomes available.

This crap just pisses me off. I give money and buy tickets and hardly have any money to really do that and we have a coach that is sitting on his butt obvisouly not working for the past month and a half about to lose one of our most highly rated recruits of all time. How hard is it to pick up a phone and call or freaking text gray back. getting my blood boiling right now.

I am not that worried about losing Gray, but this is at a horrible time when Cliff Matthews and TR are getting close to making decisions.

someone posted on TIF that they heard he was there with Barnes, which may make sense if Barnes doesn't have family that could go with him.
Heard anything else yet, cf?

Notre Dame is not going to offer Mark Barnes. He can't be admitted there. He is not there to accompany Mark Barnes. He is there because his mother thinks USC does not want him because Ron Cooper has not returned a single message, phone call, or text from Gary in weeks. Garys mom is upset and she wanted to see Notre Dame's campus. I don't think there is any cause for concern, but the timing could not be worse.

Other schools will use this against USC with guys like Cliff MAtthews, Travian Robertson, etc...

I am totally disgusted with Ron Cooper and his laziness on the recruiting front.

The Cooper problem should be handled ASAP. However, this incident makes me question Gray himself. I realize he is a young man and is impressionable, but he gave his commitment. Supposedly, he's a leader, etc. If there is a problem, then he should have taken it to someone at USC (besides Cooper). Now, at a time when we need him the most, he's got his feelings hurt, and his actions can only be detrimental to our recruiting efforts. If he is this high maintenance now, imagine how much coddling he'll need on campus.

cf,
you heard anything on whether or not Weis flew back into SB to see Gray? If this is the case, it is a horrible comparison to have Weis cutting short his vacation because Gary is there on the one hand, and then his own freaking position coach who will not even call him back on the other hand.
That sucks.

Gray is firmly committed to USC. I have been told that he took the trip to satisfy his mother's request. She accompanied Gary on the trip. I have heard that he was there talking up South Carolina to some of the recruits on hand at the ND Camp.
