Carlos Dunlap Update

Fort Dorchester High School is the home of 4 star defenisve end Carlos Dunlap. The 6'6 240 pound jumbo athlete is rated the number 13 strong-side defensive end in the country by rivals.com. Dunlap has put recruiting on the back burner this summer to focus on academics and to deal with the loss of two close family members. The sixth-rated prospect, regardless of position, in Cockfather Illustrated's SC Sweet 16 for 2007, Dunlap enters his senior year with four schools at the top of his list. That short list is comprised of USC, Florida, Georgia, and Clemson.

USC defensive line coach Brad Lawing is recruiting Dunlap and he has an ally inside the Dunlap home. It just so happens that Carlos Dunlap played basketball at the University of South Carolina back in the 1970's under Frank McGuire. Dunlap was a smooth, left-handed junior college transfer that was an excellent shooter. The Caros Dunlap I'm talking about is the father of Carlos Dunlap Jr. According to reliable sources, Carlos Dunlap, Sr. would like nothng better than for his son to follow in his footsteps and play at the University of South Carolina.

Don't expect a decision any time soon from the younger Dunlap, but as of today, USC is looking good to gain Dunlap's signature on National Signing Day.
