Cliff Matthews Tidbit

Cheraw High School defensive end Cliff Matthews recruting may be in for an unexpected turn in the next couple of weeks. The rivlas.com 100 defensive end has been listing UGA as his favorite school. The Bulldogs have two defensive ends already committed for the Class of 2007 in Conrad Obi and Justin Houston. A third defensive end prospect, Neland Ball, is expected to commit to Georgia next week. UGA is also waiting on super 5 Star prospect DE Allen Bailey to commit to them. That would be 4 TRUE high school defensive ends, excluding Matthews. Would UGA take 5 defensive ends? Would Mathews want to be the 5th and only out of state defensive end signed by UGA?

USC has a tremendous need at defensive end, and with no commitments currently, certainly this should make a difference. The Gamecocks and Tigers are anxiously awaiting Thursday's 5 p.m. press conference in Laurinburg, North Carolina, where Rivals.com top100 defenisve end Travian Robertson will announce his decision between Clemson and USC. Should Robertson commit to USC, he would become the Gamecocks first defensive end commmitment for the Class of 2007. IF Robertson commits to Clemson, he would be the Tigers second defensive end commitment in the Class of 2007, joining Kinsland, GA native Rennie Moore.

Matthews arrives back from a Las Vegas AAU tournament today. Friday he starts football practice. This is a good thing for USC. The longer he is around his football coaches, the better I like USC's chances. Matthews could still choose UGA, but the in-state schools certainly have a better story to tell about playing time and staying home to play.

As posted yesterday on Cockfather Illustrated, new information has come to light regarding the Cliff Matthews situation that leads us to believe USC could overtake Georgia for the services of the 6'5 225 pound jumbo-athlete.

Stay tuned to Cockfather Illustrated forthe lateston the Cliff Matthews situation

Thanks, CF. Matthews is the kind of talent that for too long has fled SC for FSU, UT, PSU, etc.. Need to keep him in state.

CF, thanks again for providing us access to this information, and a more toned down forum to discuss it.

Does CM have USC supporters among his football staff that can hopefully reverse the damage done by his UGA basketball coach?

As I posted below, would you speculate that both TR and CM are 50/50 shots now? And do you think there is a chance TR just pushes back his announcement?

Thanks!

I think that TR is a very confused young man right now. USC has some things working in their favor that I can't discuss right now. Still, in the end, it will beTR's decision. It will be interesting to follow the next 27 hours.

With CM, I think USC could be back in the drivers seat onece Neland Ball commits to them. should Ball commit to Auburn, that would nto be a good sign for USC. As far as the football staff is concerned, I will leave you with theis. the football staff at Cheraw is much more USC friendly than the basketball staff, that's for sure.

info for all:

Just talked to a Clempers buddy who is pretty well informed, and there HAS been a little contact between T Rob and coaches. Ard and coaches are being silent about it, but CU coaches now feel T Rob is 50/50, and is very confused...confirming what we think from our side.
