cockfather, I've never been so appalled. When Holtz was here, I heard this sort of thing was the norm, where coaches would miss in-homes with key players and simply "ass it up" to no end and in turn lose some big time recruits.
In your opinion, does this situation weigh directly on the shoulders of Nix and Cooper? Personally I haven't cared for either, especially Nix. He can't evaluate a kid worth a damn.
Do you think we can overcome it(personally, I think it's over)?
I am so grossed out by this I can hardly type. From Gray's press conference, Jay Frye's quote that "When his player commits, its done" to Cooper's lack of interest in a kid that he will be coaching for 4 years, the whole thing just sucks. I would love to use some stronger language, but out of respect for this blog I won't.
Thanks for your media day update. I think it was pretty promising. QR and Dunlap are massive. Cliff looks bigger than 220.
I can't follow recruiting right now though. I'm taking a break until kids begin taking officials. I'm sure it will be hard for me not to check in, but by god none of this stuff really matters at this point.
I'm also done with Gamecockcentral. TIF has turned into a total freaking joke. If I were a recruit I would run to the hills(probably straight to Pickens County) if I got a whif of that place. We might have the biggest idiot fanbase in America. I understand a select few of our coaches "get it" but what will it take for our fans to "get it". When will they stop acting like such idiots?

I tried to post some information regarding the cooper situation and got ripped apart last night. Basically it was "either show us proof, name names, or get the hell out of here with your "super-insider" information".
It is ridiculous.
Basically, besides what cockfather has posted, a source from RNE said weeks ago that the Gray family was getting turned-off by coach Cooper. This guy told another coach (i think reaves or spur jr.) what was happening and that things were getting bad.
Like I am gonna give out names of who tells me things, they would never tell me anything again.
I called one guy a moron and asked him what proof he wanted, if he wanted Cooper's phone records. which was deleted.
What is the point of the board if it is not to share information. I don't understand why those people have their heads up their asses so much, and come down on people like cf or fin or anyone else who shares solid information.
In addition, I started e-mailing the moderators early yesterday that things were getting out of control fast, and it took until, what, 8pm or something last night for posts to start getting deleted...I hope no other recruits, or fans/coaches of other teams saw those posts...
I don't know what is wrong with our fans. I agree that it is ridiculous that Gray trumped up the dog and pony show in the first place, and it is embarassing to him and our university now that he has de-committed. But I am not gonna blast a kid on his morals and say "spurrier should yank his scholarship offer" on a public forum. ridiculous.
Why can't those people realize that if our staff wants to land Gray, the best thing they can do for the university is shut up and not put the staff's wishes in jeopardy by completing turning Gray off to the university. In addition to other recruits seeing the feeding frenzy.
I don't think those morons deserve any damn inside information if they can't handle it. I still think that Tony and the staff do a good job, but the crowd in there has gotten ridiculous. I will be content to get my information from this blog now, honestly.
fan is short for fanatic. Many posters on TIF are fanatics, and morons,and complete and utter idiots. That is the monster that the internet has created. Anyone with a credit card and $9.95 per month can state their "informed" opinion.
The internet is a great source of information and mis-information. It is what it is.
I am hoping that this wil be Cooper's last year at USC unless he makes a serious change to his approach with regards to recruiting.
Idiots on TIF think he is a great recruiter for signing 8 or 9 guys last year. Let's look at those guys and who USC had to beat to get them.
QB Chris Smelley- Cooper was never a factor in recruiting him It was all Steve SPurrier and David Reaves.
OL Heath Batcehlor- Chris Smelley's dad recruited him. He de-committed GT and committed to USC after one visit to campus. all JOhn Hunt had to do was approve himfor an offer.
DL Joel Reaves- can't play dead in a movie. A collosal mistake.
The Brinkley Twins - USC was the only school east of the mississippi river to offer both guys a shot at playing together.
Captain Munnerlyn- at least we beat WVU for him. Probaby te toughest guy to sign in Coopers territory.
Darian Stewart - had no other offers due to academics.
Moe Brown- committed to USC at summer camp. Cooper didn't even know who he was.
Nick Prochak- comes froma USC family and is a huge USC fan. Choose USC because it was his dream to play fo the gamecocks.
So, needless to say, a baboon could have signed all the guys Cooper got except Captain Munerlyn. Still, USC is much closer to Ala than Kansas St and west Virginia.
well, the TIF guys did erase most of the blasting I took pretty fast, which was good.
I don't understand why people are so hostile towards other people who are doing nothing but offering information.
I must say though, if Cooper gets fired after this year, it will be tempting to get on TIF and be like "told you so, morons".
Did you happen to catch the "F U, Yellowfin" post? that was a first "F U" post I have ever seen. It stayed up a good 45 minutes, too...
Tony states that he tends to agree with Ard's assessment that TR will commit to them if we're unable to convince him to visit subsequent to his visit to Clemson.
How did they get in on him so late? How have they apparently turned him? He was called a lock for so long by so many. Want this be a huge disappointment to Lawying?
the sky if falling right now. in two weeks, we'll pick up Lecorn and Clement or something like that and then it will be hunky dory again.
cf any word on the TR situation? I guess we will find out next week...don't like the sound of it, though.
