Jason Barnes Tidbit
While WR Jason Barnes has delayed his decision until next week, I don't think there should be any concern by Gamecock fans. Cockfather Illustrated still projects the 6'4 197 pound prospect to choose the Gamecocks next week. There are a number of factors working for USC in this one, very similar to the Travian Robertson situation. First, the parents really want Jason in Columbia next fall. They are totally sold on the USC and the coaches ability to develop Jason both from an athletic and academic standpoint. Second, USC has help on the coaching staff. Not only is USC recruiter Fed Chatham and Independence head coach Tommy Knotts very good friends, Barnes position coach is former Florida WR Steve Shipp, who played under Coach Steve Spurrier at Florida. reportedly Shipp also has a good relationship with USC receiver coach Steve Spurrier, Jr.
