Anderson could still red-shirt. Seth Edwards could play ahead of him to keep his red-shirt in tact.

But if there is a long-term injury on the OL, Anderson will then likely play. The coaches would like to red-shirt him if possible, but they will not hesitate to play him if his services are needed.

it is really not a motivational tactic. Doughty has not grasped the defensive scheme and is not in shape to be considered for more playing time.
