USC Football Notebook August 10, 2006 - Part 1

In this USC Football Notebook, Cockfather Illustrated will present the very latest news on the Brent Davis situation, and provide insight on this year's freshman class from the perspective of someone that has been extremely close to the USC football program for the past five years.

Okay, let's cut to the chase. Here is the absolute latest on Brent Davis. As we speak, Brent's parents are on their way to Columbia. Thye are hoping that Brent will be given the opportunity to resume his career at USC. The $64,000.00 question is, does Brent want to re-join his teammates.

By now, we all know that Brent Davis, the 6'1 205 red-shirt freshman LB from Daytona Beach, FL decided to leave the football program. We also know that Brent showed up at last night's practice. We also know that as practice was concluding, Davis's intention was to meet with head coach Steve Spurrier and personally inform him of his intentions to permanently leave the program. However, Phil Kornblut of the South Carolina Network reported late last night that Davis met with defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix and expressed his desire to return to the program.

What caused Davis to have an apparent change of heart is unclear. We do know that as practice ended, Davis was greeted by a host of his former teammates and all of them expressed their desire for him to re-join the program. Did this cause the change of heart? Does Davis want to return to the football program?

These are questions that are still unanswered. Stay tuned to Cockfather Illustrated for the latest breaking news on this situation.
